THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNICATION
The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and the Department of Communication appreciate your interest in its undergraduate and graduate programs. The University of Texas at San Antonio offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees in communication.
UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE
Upon completing the degree requirements at the undergraduate level, you will be accredited with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication. The Bachelor of Arts will be your primary emphasis of study for this degree. The three areas include a Social Interaction concentration, a Technical Communication concentration, and a Public Relations concentration. Students pursuing a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication have been interested in many aspects of communication including International Communication, Intercultural Communication, Public Relations, Interpersonal Communication, and Organizational Communication; Graphic Design, Web Design, and Web Development; Rhetorical Criticism; and Education as it pertains to communication. GRADUATE DEGREE
Upon completing the degree requirements at the graduate level, you will be accredited with a Master of Arts Degree in Communication. The Master of Arts Degree in Communication offers students the opportunity to pursue advanced study in Communication, giving them the skills necessary for leadership, scholarship, and/or creative endeavors. Graduate students pursuing a Master of Arts Degree in Communication have previously been interested in New Media studies; International, Intercultural, Interpersonal, Organizational communication; Rhetorical Criticism; and Education as it pertains to communication. In addition to gaining the practical skills necessary for becoming a communication practitioner, the Master of Arts Degree in Communication prepares students with the methodology, theory, and research pertinent for conducting studies in the field of communication as well as for pursuing a Ph.D. in the academia of communication.
