Richard West
Lecturer
Richard West likes to think of himself as one of those lucky people who enjoys what he's doing and in the process is able to pass along that enjoyment to his classes. Before coming to UTSA, he worked as a radio announcer, in governmental public relations, as a writer, and has owned his own business which is how he wound up in San Antonio when a friend and he went into a partnership. The recession of the late 1980's saw the business fail and he wound up in the classroom at San Antonio Collge and at various times Palo Alto and St. Phillips as well, coming to UTSA in the Fall of 2001. A 1971 graduate of Morris Harvey College in Charleston, W. Va. with a degree in Speech and Theatre, he received his M. A. in Communication from Sangamon State University (now the University of Illinois at Springfield) in Springfield, Ill. in 1975. He is also an accomplished actor and prior to moving to San Antonio had appeared in numerous stage productions in his native Illinois.
