Organization Description
The San Antonio Area Chapter was founded in 1916 to provide support and assistance to the military stationed in and around San Antonio. Ninety two years later, our Chapter serves 2.4 million people in 23 counties across South Central Texas from our headquarters in San Antonio and our 4 branch offices in New Braunfels, Uvalde, Del Rio, and Laredo. We have 5 areas of service: Disaster Services, Health and Safety Services, International Services, Service to the Armed Forces, and Volunteer and Youth Services.
Intern Responsibilities
- Willingness to support Red Cross Mission
- Respond to assigned requests
- Assist with organization of Community Events
- Respond to media requests with accurate information
- Present Red Cross involvement and services to media
- Write press releases
- Work on web site
- Assist at disaster or other emergency site
Skills Required
- Excellent communications skills
- Understand Red Cross mission and services offered
- Able and willing to be on site of emergency
- Media experience preferred
- Follow though on projects
- Courteous and professional demeanor
- Availability day or night
