the web site assignments

Your major assignment in this class will be to build a large-scale Web site, one with at least 12 pages. To simplify this process, you'll hand in your Web site in three segments, each at least four pages long. You'll upload the final version of all twelve pages during our final exam period. Here are some things to keep in mind as you work

process

You'll upload your first four pages on Friday, March 11. The content here will be up to you; you may want to begin with text-based pages since they're a little easier to work with than those that involve graphics and more complex layout. Incidentally, since this is the Friday before spring vacation, if you want to upload your site on Wednesday, March 9, you can.

On Friday, April 5, you'll upload the second installment of your Web site. This will include the first four pages, along with at least four more. These eight pages should be unified and linked; they should share at least some design elements, and they should clearly be part of the same site.

On the day designated for our final exam, Monday, May 9, you'll upload the entire site. That means the eight pages you've already submitted will be submitted once again, along with at least four new pages. Again, the page design and (to some extent) the content may have been modified since the last submission; the final twelve-page site should be unified, with clearly linked pages, efficient navigation, and effective structure.

requirements

The complete site which you'll upload at the end of the semester must have a unified design, with effective navigation and interesting content. I'm assuming that you'll develop this design as you work on the pages; thus you may change or modify the design of the first four pages when you hand them in again along with the second four. And you may make more modification before you hand in the final version. The final version counts more than the other two since it represents the revision of your work as you go.

More information about the Web site assignment will be available later in the semester when I'll give you a written assignment with rubric.
