Visual Semiotics: Framing
- Elements in composition can be disconnected, separated from each other.
- Or they can be connected.
- Stronger the framing of an element, more disconnected element is.
- Absence of framing implies unity.
- Connected elements= single unit of information,
- Belong together.
- Frame lines can have different thickness.
- Thick lines create greater discontinuity
- Can also can be shown by discontinuities of color and/or shape.
