Undergraduate Scholarships

All scholarships awarded by the College of Liberal and Fine Arts require the recipient to:

  • Major in a discipline within the College of Liberal and Fine Arts and actively pursue a degree.
  • Unless otherwise stated, be enrolled full-time: 12 hours for undergraduate students and 9 hours for graduate students.
  • Unless otherwise noted, apply for all scholarships by February 15.

Preference will be given to those applicants demonstrating financial need as determined by the UTSA Office of Student Financial Aid.

SMPS Striving for Excellence in Communication Scholarship Amount dependent upon donor funding

  • Preference given to applicants with an interest in pursuing a profession in Marketing, Communication, PR, Sales or Business Development
Two STC Technical Editing Scholarships $1,400 each

  • Major in Communication
  • The first scholarship assists students who are pursuing an undergraduate degree in technical communication (or a related area, such as professional writing or digital media) and the second assists students who are pursuing a graduate degree in technical communication (or a related area, such as professional writing or digital media).

Additional Scholarships (non-UTSA)

The Association for Women in Communications, San Antonio Professional Chapter, Scholarship for Re-Entering Women

The San Antonio Chapter of the Association for Women in Communication offers two scholarships to women planning careers in communications. The San Antonio Area Foundation administers the scholarship program.

The scholarships are open to female undergraduate students accepted at or enrolled in a Bexar County university, college or community college. The candidate must be a high school graduate or G.E.D. certified, have had a minimum three-year lapse from graduating high school or leaving the academic world and must be planning a career in a communications-related field, such as print or broadcast journalism, advertising or public relations.

The scholarship, established in 1989, is named to honor longtime public relations professional and AWC member, Audreyjane "Ajay" Castro.
