Skip Eno

Professional Interests and Background

Eno has been Director of Forensics and Debate Coach since 1982. His background is diverse. He debated in high school, in Colorado, Missouri and Wyoming, and he debated occasionally at the University of North Dakota where he was member of the gymnastics team in the 60's. He rediscovered debate at UTSA where he worked hard to adapt to speed and the inclusion of critical theory in debate, both foreign to his experience.

He is constantly watching and learning from his debaters, as well as those from schools all over the country. He sees debate as more than a technical activity, and he constantly seeks new approaches to all phases of debate.

Skip has coached with solid success from his first year on the scene. He has served as CEDA's South-Central Regional Director several times, though he definitely prefers coaching, researching and listening to debate rounds. He was named Coach of the Year by the Southern Speech Association and All Star Coach by the CEDA South-Central Region in 1996. Eno has been included in "Who's Who Among College Educators," and he received UTSA's Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1999. Eno loves traveling, thus long drives in the van. Eno loves ideas, thus late night talks with his debaters. And Eno loves competition, thus debate.
